The Drew Effect. #SundaySnacks

What’s good family, I’m Anna DeShawn with this weeks Sunday snack. These Sunday snacks are going to be my big takeaways from the past. And let me just say that it’s been quite a week.

Lori Lightfoot was sworn in as mayor of Chicago. If you haven’t watched the speech go head and do yourself a favor & watch it. I ran my favorite race of the year yesterday the Solider Field 10 miler. It was hot and I still took 23 min off my time from last year. Woot. And then the hardest part of my week. We loss a boss. A friend. Drew. He made his transition on Wednesday. Tears have been coming and going so be patient with me but I want y’all to know him because we can all stand to take some lessons from him on how to live.

Drew operated on a whole different level. Understand. Everything he did he put his heart into. He would advocate for whatever he thought was right. He traveled a lot but when he was in the building you could feel his energy. When you talked to him on the phone you could feel it. I’m coining this the Drew Effect. The Drew Effect translated in every part of his life. We would party & very few and I mean very few could outlast him. Those very few do not include me LOL. He only did things he believed in. He battled cancer on his own terms. He lived life on his own terms until the very end. I’m grateful I got to tell him thank you & that I love him. The Drew effect goes far beyond just a feeling but a way of life. He inspires me to create my own effect, to be an effect. Figure out your effect.
